Tofu Kebabs

Tofu Kebabs

These tofu kebabs are my all time favorite comfort meal! They are somehow light and dense at the same time, nutritious yet indulgent, and so so good. We love the kebabs as is but we really love that we can customize them however we want based on our mood or the ingredients we have on hand.

We love to pair this dish with our turmeric garlic rice and olive relish but it would go excellent on a salad, in a greek bowl, or with a pasta. However you have this dish, we are sure you will love it!

Tofu Kebab Ingredients:

no changes to this recipe
  • 1 packet tofu - max 1 cup per serving for low FODMAP
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp sumac
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 cup canned diced tomatoes

Dressing Ingredients:

  • 1 cup vegan mayo (can substitute dairy free yogurt)
  • 1-2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

Tofu Kebab Instructions:

  • Remove tofu from the package, place it in between paper towels, and put something heavy like a book on top to remove the excess moisture. Let it sit for 3 minutes.
  • Add tofu to a mixing bowl with the other ingredients except for the flour.
  • Start mixing and once all ingredients are incorporated, start adding flour 1 tbsp at a time until you have a mixture that will hold together when you press it.
  • Once the desired consistency is reached, start shaping our kebabs. You can do this around a skewer, but we prefer to make them into very large tater tot looking shapes.
  • Add oil to a pan and set it to medium, medium-high. Once the oil has had a chance to get hot, add in the kebabs.
  • Brown on all sides and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate or a drying rack.

Dressing Instructions:

  • Add all ingredients to a mixing bowl and mix to combine.
  • Taste, adjust seasoning, and enjoy!

Putting the Recipe Together:

  • Place your kebabs on a serving platter. You can sprinkle with a bit of paprika or parsley to level them up a bit.
  • Put the dipping sauce into a serving bowl. You can also sprinkle with paprika or parsley to add some flair.
  • Enjoy!
