Salmon Cakes

Salmon cakes are always a special treat! We wanted to create a recipe that was easy to prep and even easier to cook, and oh my goodness is it delicious! Our original recipe is pretty standard but we have outlined additional ingredients you can add to spice it up a bit if you are feeling fancy.

Salmon cakes are amazing on their own but you can certainly pair them with other dishes and they will be just as good. We love to make a nice dipping sauce but lemon on top works great too. Our favorite things to have with salmon cakes are a hearty salad, soup, delicious bread, or a yummy potato dish.

Whatever combination you add to your salmon cakes and whatever you pair them with, we know you will love them as much as we do!

We are dedicated to making recipes that anyone can enjoy, no matter what allergies or restrictions you have. For this recipe, it is gluten free and dairy free but we have also provided a substitute recipe that is also low FODMAP.

GLUTEN FREE - DAIRY FREE RECIPE

Salmon Cake Ingredients:

  • 1 lb cooked salmon
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp garlic
  • lemons
  • salt and pepper to taste

Additional Ingredient Options:

  • red chili flakes
  • capers
  • olives - green, black, or kalamata
  • basil
  • red peppers

Sauce Options:

  • garlic aioli:
    • 1 cup mayo or yogurt
    • 3 tbsp garlic
    • 2 tbsp lemon juice
    • 1 tbsp parsley
  • tartar sauce: 
    • 1 cup mayo or yogurt
    • 1/2 cup pickles finely chopped
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • salt and pepper to taste
  • basil aioli
    • 1 cup mayo or yogurt
    • 1/2 cup basil finely chopped
    • 1/4 cup parsley finely chopped
    • 3 tbsp olive oil
    • 2 tbsp lemon juice
    • 1 tbsp garlic
    • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
    • salt and pepper to taste

GLUTEN FREE - DAIRY FREE - LOW FODMAP RECIPE

Salmon Cake Ingredients:

  • 1 lb cooked salmon
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 1 1/2 tbsp garlic infused olive oil
  • lemons
  • salt and pepper to taste

Additional Ingredient Options:

  • red chili flakes
  • capers
  • olives - green, black, or kalamata
  • basil
  • red peppers

Sauce Options:

  • tartar sauce: 
    • 1 cup mayo or yogurt
    • 1/2 cup pickles finely chopped
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • salt and pepper to taste

    • 1 cup mayo or yogurt
    • 1/2 cup basil finely chopped
    • 1/4 cup parsley finely chopped
    • 3 tbsp garlic infused olive oil
    • 2 tbsp lemon juice
    • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
    • salt and pepper to taste

      INSTRUCTIONS:

      Salmon Cake Instructions:

      • In a food processor, add salmon, egg yolk, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Blend until combined, don't over mix.
      • Transfer to a bowl and mix in parsley.
      • Wet both hands with water and shape salmon mixture into balls then flatten into patties.
      • Heat oil in a skillet and cook patties for 1-2 minutes on each side, until brown and crispy.
      • Sprinkle with a bit of parsley and a pinch of salt.
      • Cut lemons into wedges and mix ingredients of your sauce of choice.
      • Enjoy!
